Stacking the Shelves

Stacking The Shelves is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks! And audiobooks. Don’t forget audiobooks!

In other words, if you can read it or if it can be read to you – no matter how you got it – it belongs in Stacking the Shelves.

The Stacking the Shelves meme was originally hosted at Team Tynga’s Reviews. It is currently hosted by Reading Reality.

It has been a pretty quiet week, but I am getting lots of things done. We had a lot of wind the other day which required some clean up afterwards. But now it looks like summer is approaching. We will have some recording breaking weather in the next few days which should be fun.

A couple of days ago, I thought I would only have one book added to my stack this week, but behold I have four! Two of them are ARCs that I recently found out about, so I am super excited about reading them. The other two are library books that I am borrowing through Libby.

Library books I have added to my bedside stack

FBI Agent Gardner Camden is an analytical genius with an affinity for puzzles. He also has a blind spot on the human side of investigations, a blindness that sometimes even includes people in his own life, like his beloved seven-year-old daughter Camila. Gardner and his squad of brilliant yet quirky agents make up the Patterns and Recognition (PAR) unit, the FBI’s hidden edge, brought in for cases that no one else can solve.

When DNA links a murder victim to a serial killer long presumed dead, the team springs into action. A second victim establishes a pattern, and the murderer begins leaving a trail of clues and riddles especially for Gardner. And while the PAR team is usually relegated to working cold cases from behind a desk, the investigation puts them on the road and into the public eye, following in the footsteps of a killer.

Along with Gardner, PAR consists of a mathematician, a weapons expert, a computer analyst, and their leader, a career agent. Each of them must use every skill they have to solve the riddle of the killer’s identity. But with the perpetrator somehow learning more and more about the team at PAR, can they protect themselves and their families…before it’s too late?

Head Cases is a book that I found using the Goodreads recommendations. I hardly ever use this function, but it was a prompt on the 52 Book Club Challenge, so I gave it a whirl. This one actually sounds like a book I will like. This is the first in a series, so hopefully it will be a good one and a series I can continue with.

ARCs I’ve added to my Netgalley account

Ella Chambers didn’t kill Liam Montgomery.

If she had, she certainly wouldn’t have done it outside his family’s mansion during the Christmas party of the year. She definitely wouldn’t have loaded his body into the trunk of her car. And she absolutely would not have announced to the town that the boy who ruined her life ten years ago was “so dead to her.”

But now Liam is missing—nothing but a bloody spot on the drive and a host of unanswered questions—and Ella is the only person who knows he’s still alive.

So it’s up to her to prove it.

Liam Montgomery didn’t want to die.

But, it turns out, when you’re the sole heir to a billionaire, someone might want you dead. Luckily for Liam, being dead works for him.

Now he’s on the hunt for a killer. Unfortunately, Ella is on the hunt for him.

She’ll have to prove he’s still alive to clear her name, but that’s easier said than done in a quaint mountain town where everyone knows your story but no one knows the truth. Can the billionaire’s grandson and the housekeeper’s daughter join forces to catch a killer? Or is their past too steeped in secrets and lies?

As the storm of the century blows in, every step will bring these two childhood rivals closer to a killer—and each other.

Because, this Christmas, only one thing is certain: it’s beginning to look a lot like murder.

I absolutely adored the first book in this series, The Most Wonderful Crime of the Year, so I jumped at the chance to read this one. It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Murder doesn’t come out till October, but I just might have to read it in July.

In this stunning sequel to The Crimson Throne, Alyth and Samson must infiltrate the fae court to prepare to face the bloodthirsty army of the High Blade who is intent on destroying both the mortal and fae worlds. From the New York Times bestselling authors of the Witch and Hunter duology, Sara Raasch and Beth Revis, comes the conclusion to this incredible romantasy duology. Alyth and Samson finally know the identity of the High Blade, leader of the bloodthirsty Red Cap army, and it’s someone they never suspected. They’ll use every bit of courage, smarts, and luck they have to escape her grasp and flee to the fae court, where they hope to find aid in the fight against the Red Caps. But the fae princes have been apathetic since the Faerie Queen disappeared years ago at the hands of the High Blade. They seem unwilling to help. And if they find out Samson’s true identity, he’ll be killed and Alyth banished. Alyth and Samson can only depend on each other and their love as they navigate fae politics, try to win allies, search for the missing queen, and face down the greatest threat the two worlds have ever known.

I really enjoyed The Crimson Throne Last year, so of course I had to request the sequel. The Blood Queen also comes out in October, which gives me some time to maybe think about rereading the first book.

I think I have mentioned before that my husband and I have been house shopping this past year. Well, we are currently in the process of purchasing a new home, and are hoping to move later this summer. I have already started packing and thought this would be the perfect time to read Nobody Wants Your Sh*t, or rather listen to it. There are actually three books in this series, and they are all short enough that I can get them done pretty quickly. Hopefully these will motivate me to get rid of stuff, so I don’t have to move it!

Well that is it for this week’s Stacking the Shelves. Looking forward to seeing what others have added to their stacks this week. Until next time…

Happy Reading!
