WWW Wednesday

Hello and Happy Wednesday! I hope your week is going well. My reading this week has been a bit weird. I really struggled at the beginning of the week settling into any of the books I had on my various shelves. I started several, but kept putting them down. This doesn’t usually happen to me, so it felt really odd. I did eventually settle in to some books, switching formats for some of them helped, by this I mean print to audio and vice versa. With really popular books I will sometimes put holds on both the physical and the audiobook versions, then see which ones show up first. This happened twice this week, which was a good thing seeing as I was feeling so fickle about my books.

What am I currently reading?

Well Versed is my current ARC and I have only just started it. I am really enjoying being back in Willow Creek and their Renaissance Faire. So happy that the author decided to write one more book in this series.

Hot Girl Murder Club is very intriguing. I’m really liking the detective character, but I am finding the switching from present to past a bit jarring. Still it is a good book to end my days with.

99 Ways to Die is really interesting, but something that needs to be done in small doses. I started off listening to this one, but decided after about 20% that I would get more out of it by reading it. Luckily the book was available at my library, so now I can just pick it up and read it for short bursts of time. It might take longer to get through it this way, but I think it will be better.

Adversary to the Villain is a book I have been wanting to read since I finished the last one. It has been a long year, but I finally have the audiobook loaded on my Libby app and I’m ready to burn through it as fast as I can.

What have I recently finished reading?

We Already Dug the Grave was a pretty decent thriller, although I had most of it figured out pretty quickly. Still I liked the characters and the dual time line was well done.

The Exquisite Torment of Loving Your Enemy was great. I ended up doing the audiobook for this one which was wonderful. I loved both of the narrators. I think I heard that this was only going to be a duology, but I am really hoping there will be more books. Even if they are not about Osric and Aurienne. I just really enjoy the world that this author has created.

I, Robot wasn’t quite what I was expecting, but I really enjoyed it. It was interesting to see how the robots developed over time. Considering when it was written, 1950, it has held up pretty well.

Throw Away the Key was a solid spy thriller. I really enjoyed this one and I learned quite a bit about lock picking. I am certainly hoping that this is the start of a new series, although it works quite well as a standalone.

What will I read next?

The Henchperson’s Guide to Unionizing is the next ARC that I will probably pick up. Very much looking forward to this one and I’m hoping it will be as funny as it sounds.

The Good, The Bad and the History is the last book in the St Mary’s series and then I am all caught up. I think that there is going to be another book sometime in the next year, but I’m not positive of that.

Green City Wars is a book that I kept seeing around and thinking about reading, but then would pass over it for something else. But then I recently saw a review that made me decide to go ahead and read it. I like the author and this one does sound very interesting.
