Don Calame wrote Swim the Fly which is still one of the funniest books I have ever read. Many of the scenes in that book made me laugh out loud really hard. This new book by
Don is also very humorous. In Dan vs Nature, Dan’s mom signs him and his soon to be stepdad for a survivalist week to get to know each other. Dan convinces his best friend Charlie to go with him, so that they can play some pranks on Hank, to convince him that being a stepdad is not something he really wants to do. The trip starts off badly and only gets worse, even without the pranks, and it soon becomes the trip from hell that lasts 2 weeks instead of 5 days, before they are rescued. Some of the pranks are based on bathroom humor, vomiting, diarrhea, and farting, but they tend to back fire on poor Dan every time. There is also a bear who keeps showing up, and of course they get separated from their guide and get lost in the woods. A good read for fans of Man vs. Nature or if you just like a really funny book. The trailer is pretty silly, but stick with it for a surprise ending!
