The end of the school year has been exhausting this year. Not sure why it is so bad this year, but I have had no energy last week or so far this one. I have pretty much just been coming home and plopping in front of the TV for a few hours and then going to bed. I’ve been keeping up on my reading, surprisingly enough, but not the reviews and blogging. So sorry that I haven’t posted much or commented much the last couple of weeks Things should start to pick up next week. So just to get at least one other post done this week, I decided to do a WWW Wednesday.
This is a meme hosted by Taking on a World of Words. Check out their blog and the posts for todays WWW Wednesday. All titles are linked to their Goodreads summaries.
What are you currently reading?
I almost always have three books going at a time, a book, and e-arc and an audio-book.
By a Charm & a Curse by Jamie Questell (book)
I won this a few months ago, but just now had the time to read it. I’m about half way through and enjoying it. It is very different and the premise is very interesting. I’m liking the characters and the atmosphere. Not sure how I feel about the romance yet, as it is in the beginning stages.
Smoke and Iron by Rachel Caine (e-arc)
The fourth book in the Great Library series and so far it is just as good as the other three. I was a little nervous when I first opened it, because there are other characters points of views, which made me think that Jess might not make it through the series. But then I remembered that the group was split up at the end of book three, so in order to find out what was happening with everyone else we needed other points of view. So hopefully all good.
The Evil Wizard Smallbone by Delia Sherman (audio)
We have a middle grade state award called the Sasquatch. I always try to read them over the summer and this is the second one so far. Just started it today, but so far am finding it funny and interesting.
What did you recently finish?
Ash and Quill by Rachel Caine (book)
Just did a review of this series so far, so I won’t say much here, but this is a really good series and should be read by everyone. It deals with censorship, loyalty and how power corrupts.
The Oracle Queen by Kendare Blake (e-book)
This was a novella about the first oracle queen in the Three Dark Crowns series. It was good, but not sure how it will relate to the series. It just might be a historical piece, but it might be relevant to the series too. We will see when the next book comes out.
The Tapper Twins Go To War (with each other) by Geoff Rodkey (audio)
This was the first book I read for the Sasquatch award. I really enjoyed the audiobook which had a full cast. It is mostly told from Claudia’s point of view but there are interviews and text messages mixed in and all portrayed by other people. It was funny and a short read.
What do you think you will read next?
Ace of Shades by Amanda Foody (book)
This is a book that I have been seeing a lot of good reviews for recently. I passed it up on Netgalley mostly because I already had enough books to read the month it came out. But now I’m ready to dig in.
Willa of the Wood by Robert Beatty (e-arc)
This is a middle grade book by the author of the Serafina books. I really enjoyed those books and this one is set in that world, so of course I had to give it a read. Full of interesting legends and myths of the Smokey Mountains.
The Skeleton Tree by Iain Lawrence (audio)
The next book for the Sasquatch award. This is a survival book, kids lost in the Alaska wilderness. Have heard good things about it, so fingers crossed it will be good.
So that is what I am up to as far as reading goes. Check out Taking on a World of Words for other WWW Wednesdays. Hopefully I will be back next week with more reviews and other memes and tags. I usually have more time to blog in the summer as well as reading.
