Monthly Wrap-Up – February 2020

February was sort of a weird month this year. On the one hand it is short, but for some reason it just felt like it went on forever. I also never felt like I was achieving anything this month. I had some things I really wanted to do, but never seemed to find the time to do it. Oh well, maybe this month.

I did surprisingly have a pretty good reading month. Even though it was short, I managed to read 14 books, which is not bad. Especially considering that four of them were seriously long books. For the most part they were all pretty good reads too.

Books and ARC’s

Before the Devil Breaks You (552 pgs) and The King of Crows (560 pgs) were awesome. Loved how the whole series wrapped up, and with a hint that there might be an off-shoot series.

Would Like to Meet (336 pgs) was an adult Rom Com that was pretty cute, maybe could have been funnier, but I really enjoyed it.

Wicked as You Wish (432 pgs) was pretty good, but I did have some issues with the world building.

I absolutely adored Spin the Dawn (392 pgs). If you haven’t read this yet, you really must. I have the ARC for the next book which doesn’t come out until the summer, but I just might have to read it now!

I saw a lot of reviews for One of Us is Next (377 pgs) which most people seemed to like better than the first one. I did like this one, but I think the first one was a little better, except for that moment at the end where I went “Holy Crap!!!”

Middle Grade Books

All of these were quite delightful and I highly recommend all of them. Look Both Ways, New Kid and Scary Stories for Young Foxes all won Youth Media Awards. Bloom and City Spies are ARC’s that I read and come out in March. I should have the review for City Spies up tomorrow.

Audio Books

I somehow managed to get three audiobooks done this month which rarely happens. Darkly Dreaming Dexter was quite dark, darker than the TV show and I didn’t like Dexter as much in the book. Still not sure if I will continue the series or not. Kill the Farm Boy was hilarious, I never laughed so hard. I really wanted to read the next one, but it wasn’t available at the library. Hopefully it will come soon. Plugged is also quite amusing as is the sequel Screwed which is what I am listening to now.

Well that was my reading month! How was yours?

  1. Looks like you had a great reading month! I just got One of Us is Next yesterday and I’m looking forward to reading it. I loved OOUIL and I’m hoping to enjoy this one just as much 😊 Totally agree with you about Spin the Dawn and Wicked As You Wish (I’m still confused about how exactly spelltech works lol). Great wrap up!
