The Book Blogger Hop was originally created by Jennifer @ Crazy-For-Books in March 2010 and ended on December 31, 2012. It was relaunched on February 15, 2013 by Billy@Coffee Addicted Writer. Each week the hop will start on a Friday and end the following Thursday. There will be a weekly prompt featuring a book related question. The hop’s purpose is to give bloggers a chance to follow other blogs, learn about new books, befriend other bloggers, and receive new followers to your own blog.
This week’s prompt is:
Do you ever get burned out from reading?
Short answer is no. I am always up for reading. Ever since I can remember I have always had at least one book that I was reading. What I do occasionally get burnt out on are genres. I will devour a genre for awhile, reading everything I can get my hands on, and then after awhile they all start to sound the same or blur together, so I think to myself that is enough of that and move on to something else for a while. Currently I am really into mysteries, thrillers and urban fantasy. But it wasn’t all that long ago that I was into fairy tale retellings and young adult books of any genre. But lately those are holding no interest for me, or I get bored with them by the end of the book.
The good news is that I usually find myself going back to genres that I thought I was done with. My interest sometimes gets sparked by a favorite author publishing a book in that genre, and then I am off and running with it once again.
This prompt sort of circles back to one a few weeks ago that asked if I never read certain genres. There are times when I am reading less in a certain genre than in others, but I will eventually circle back to it again.
Well that is that for this week’s post. Until next time, Happy Reading!
Yes, I totally get that bit about getting burned out with a particular genre.
