GoodReads Monday

This weekly meme was started by @Lauren’s Page Turners. It is now being hosted by Budget Tales Book Blog. To participate, choose a random book from your GoodReads TBR and show it off. Which sounds easy enough until you have to decide how to choose that book! I think I will use a different way each week, like picking a color or number of pages. I will let you know each week how I chose the book and then something interesting about it, like how it ended up on the list or why I want to read it. Got it? Okay let’s get started.

One week to Halloween and the weather here in the Pacific Northwest is finally cooperating! It feels like fall finally and the leaves are falling and there is a crispness in the air. Just perfect for trick or treating. Some of the neighbors are starting to decorate their yards as well. I have yet to read any of the spooky books that I have featured all month. Most of them just arrived from the library. So I guess I will be reading them in November, which is fine with me. They will be the perfect books to curl up on those stormy nights. I saved a really good one for this last week though. It is by a favorite author as well.

Our Last Night by Taylor Adams

Published: November 2015

Summary from Goodreads:

Sometimes you have to go backwards to go forwards
Dan is a professional ghost hunter who’s never actually found a ghost. But his newest case is promising: a cursed Russian rifle (allegedly) haunted by a demon. According to legend, anyone who touches the antique weapon dies within 24 hours. But for Dan, it’s personal — he’s still mourning the death of his fiancée Adelaide, and he’s desperate to find proof that spirits exist. At any cost.

As the clock ticks down, Dan’s paranormal investigation quickly twists into a mind-bending nightmare. He is stalked through time and memory by a terrifying (and very real) demon. And as for his lost love, Adelaide? She might be the only one who can save him . . .

This sounds just perfect. I love a ghost story with a twist. I actually ended up purchasing this one as my library didn’t have a copy. I am hoping to pick it up soon though.

  1. I love the mix of paranormal and mystery. I have tried to read a few Halloweeny books this month, but will spill over to November – October has gone too fast!

Our trees are losing their leaves, but it is still fairly warm here. We have had some rain and a storm though as well as sunshine – it just can’t make up it’s mind!

    Have a great week!
