GoodReads Monday

This weekly meme was started by @Lauren’s Page Turners. It is now being hosted by Budget Tales Book Blog. To participate, choose a random book from your GoodReads TBR and show it off. Which sounds easy enough until you have to decide how to choose that book! I think I will use a different way each week, like picking a color or number of pages. I will let you know each week how I chose the book and then something interesting about it, like how it ended up on the list or why I want to read it. Got it? Okay let’s get started.

This is the last Goodreads Monday post for 2022. Looking back at all of my posts has been fun. Picking a book off of my list every week to talk about has been a good way for me to get interested in it again and maybe even read it. In fact, out of the 41 Goodreads post I have done this year, I read 24 of those books. Some of them were new releases that I was looking forward to reading, but many of them were back list books. Of course I probably added more books to the list than I read, but you all know how it goes.

This week’s pick is another book that was released this year that I didn’t get around to reading. I really don’t have any excuse for this one as it is by a favorite author.

Five Survive by Holly Jackson

Publication Date: November 29, 2022

Summary from GoodReads:

The brand new unmissable crime thriller from Holly Jackson, best-selling, award-winning author of the Good Girl’s Guide to Murder trilogy.

Eight hours.
Six friends.
One sniper . . .

Eighteen year old Red and her friends are on a road trip in an RV, heading to the beach for Spring Break. It’s a long drive but spirits are high. Until the RV breaks down in the middle of nowhere. There’s no mobile phone reception and nobody around to help. And as the wheels are shot out, one by one, the friends realise that this is no accident. There’s a sniper out there in the dark watching them and he knows exactly who they are. One of the group has a secret that the sniper is willing to kill for.

A game of cat-and-mouse plays out as the group desperately tries to get help and to work out which member of the group is the target. Buried secrets are forced to light in the cramped, claustrophobic setting of the RV, and tensions within the group will reach deadly levels. Not everyone will survive the night.

I have gone ahead and placed this on hold at my library and hope to get it sometime next month. It sounds really good, and I enjoyed her series Good Girl’s Guide to Murder, so I am sure this will be good as well.

Happy Reading!
