Book Blogger Hop

The Book Blogger Hop was originally created by Jennifer @ Crazy-For-Books in March 2010 and ended on December 31, 2012. IT was relaunched on February 15, 2013 by Billy@Coffee Addicted Writer. Each week the hop will start on a Friday and end the following Thursday. There will be a weekly prompt featuring a book related question. The hop’s purpose is to give bloggers a chance to follow other blogs, learn about new books, befriend other bloggers, and receive new followers to your own blog.

This week’s topic is:

Do you prefer to read in a quiet or noisy setting?

Definitely a quiet setting. I can tolerate a little bit of noise, such as my husband listening to the radio in another room, but it has to be pretty quiet where I am reading. Having other things going on around me just distracts me from my reading and can also just drag me out of the story if I am really engaged with it. I can’t have anything like the TV or music going on around me, I find it really hard to focus.

I also need it somewhat quiet when I am writing, although I kind of like it when I have a little bit of music going on in the background.

My husband on the other hand, can totally read anywhere with just about anything going on around him. I am always totally amazed that he can read with the TV blaring and with conversations going on around him. It sometimes takes a couple of times for him to realize that I have asked him a question while he is reading. I wish I could do that. I would make reading on planes and in other noisy places so much easier for me.

What about you? Do you like it noisy or quiet when you read?
