I just love three day weekends, I get so much done, including reading! I was able to finish 4 books this weekend, although two were under 300 pages. But I enjoyed them all!
What am I currently reading?
The Isles of the Gods so far is very good and I am having a hard time putting it down. I love the characters and the story so far.
Smoke & Whispers is also quite good. I haven’t gotten to far in yet, but I am enjoying it so far.
Beautiful Creatures is really good, but so long! Even though I listened to it a lot over the weekend, I still am only about halfway done. I love the audiobook though and highly recommend it.
What have I recently finished reading?
The Last Word was amazingly good and really hard to put down. I read it in two days. Such a twisty and wonderful story that will keep you guessing to the end.
Just One Damned Thing After Another was another great read that I really enjoyed. Such a delightfully quirky cast of characters and a really complex story. I will need to get the next one soon.
I know I said I wasn’t going to read anymore mass market paperbacks, but I just couldn’t resist this one. I mean come on, check out that title and those eyes just drew me in and wouldn’t let me pass by. And this time I wasn’t sorry. While The Librarian’s Vampire Assistant wasn’t stunning in any way, it was still a fun and fast read. I liked the characters and the plot was interesting, but the dialog was a bit lacking as was the writing overall. Still I think I might just pick up the next one.
No Surrender was a middle grade book that I read practically in one day. It was such a fun book and I just adored Skink. Now I need to read the adult books that feature him!
What will I read next?
Titanium Noir is the next ARC I need to read. It sounds like a science fiction, dark detective fantasy? Quite the mash-up, but hopefully it will be good.
Daisy Jones & the Six will be the first book I’ve read by this author. I have heard many good things about her books, but just haven’t yet had the pleasure. I hope this lives up to the hype.
Beautiful Darkness will most likely be my next audiobook. I am hoping it will be just as good as the first one.
