Monthly Wrap-Up: September 2023

September was a really busy month for me! I had lots of activities going on and lots of relatives came to visit or I went to visit them. I was able to keep up with my reading for the most part, finishing 15 1/2 books. I’m counting the half because it was on my TBR for this month and I didn’t quite finish it before the 1st of October. I’m still reading it as of this posting, but I am hoping to finish it today.

The books are listed in the order that I read them and the ones with the asteriks (*) have my reviews linked. All other books are linked to their Goodreads pages.

*Night of the Witch was a solid start to a very interesting historical fantasy series. I really enjoyed this one and encourage you to give it a chance.

*All The Sinners Bleed was such a dark and twisty story, yet still managed to keep you guessing as to who the serial killer is and how the town and sheriff will cope with the aftermath.

The Book Eaters was an interesting read. It wasn’t my favorite this month, but it wasn’t the worst either. I think I wanted a bit more about why the book eaters existed.

*Assistant to the Villain was my favorite audiobook this month. I laughed and giggled the whole way through and really enjoyed the banter and the sunshine, grumpy romance.

*Long Past Dues was a solid second book in this series. I really like the characters and the story was engaging and twisty enough to keep you interested.

*The Hundred Loves of Juliet was a pretty good read. There were some things I didn’t like, but lots of others that I did. I never really felt the passion between the main characters though.

How Can I Help You was certainly a twisty tale with some very interesting characters. The dual narrative also added a nice touch as you often saw the same event through different character’s perspectives.

*An Inheritance of Magic was a really good read. I really enjoyed the character and the magical system is quite complex.

*Painted Devils was a really fun read. I enjoyed watching the characters evolve and grow closer. The quest was often intense and I wasn’t sure it was going to end on a happy note.

*A Stroke of the Pen was a fun collection of early stories by Terry Pratchett. I really enjoyed them all.

Masters of Death was kind of weird. I really didn’t ever quite jibe with the author’s writing style or feel any kind of attachment to the characters. The plot was interesting though.

The Woman Who Walked into the Sea was a fabulous mystery that really kept me quessing to the end.

*Two Twisted Crowns was so dark and so very very good. I really loved the characters and the romance and the magical system!

*The Ten Thousand Doors of January was a good story, but the audiobook just didn’t quite work for me. I did like the characters and the plot though.

Gallows Court was interesting. I was kind of confused through most of it as I wasn’t quite sure if the main character was a hero or a villain. Not sure if I will continue the series.

October should be a much more relaxed month and I should be back to my more normal schedule. I hope you all had a really great reading month and until next time…

Happy Reading!
