Monthly Wrap-Up: February 2024

February was a pretty good month reading wise. I can’t say much about the weather this month except that it was quite mixed. Some days it looked and felt like winter, others were quite spring like and there was even one day that was almost like summer. Needless to say the plants and animals are quite confused.

I managed to read quite a few books and one short story collection for a total of 18 books. There was only one which I had some mixed feelings about, but the rest were all quite fun and interesting reads.

Murder Road is quite good with some solid characters and interesting twists.

The League of Lady Poisoners is a very informative nonfiction book about, you guessed it, ladies who used poisons to murder. The ladies in question spanned across the centuries and it was fascinating to read about all these different women.

Finlay Donovan is Killing It is a reread and just as good as the first time around. I enjoyed the audiobook narrator quite a bit.

The Violets of March was an interesting read. I loved the setting and I liked the characters. The mystery could have been a bit better.

Veronica Ruiz Breaks the Bank is a short story about Vero before she meets Finlay. It was a lot of fun.

Finlay Donovan Knocks ’em Dead is another reread and still funny. I loved how hard Finlay works to keep her ass of an ex husband alive.

Fuzzy Nation is a superb little book about what it means to be sentient. Something to think about if we ever do encounter life on other planets.

A Grave Robbery is a great addition to this series. This is a little more sedate than the others, but still a great read.

One of the Good Guys wasn’t quite what I was expecting and I’m still not sure how I feel about it, especially the ending.

Finlay Donovan Jumps the Gun was the last reread of this series before I jumped into the newest one. This was perhaps my least favorite of the three, but still a lot of fun to listen to.

The Improbable Meet Cute is a collection of short stories all centered around some unusual meet cutes.

Finlay Donovan Rolls the Dice is the newest addition to the series and I really enjoyed it. It wrapped up some of the storylines nicely.

A Trail Through Time is the fourth book in the Chronicles of St Mary’s series. This one was quite good and had some really funny moments too.

Miss Percy’s Pocket Guide to the Care and Feeding of British Dragons is delightful although a little slow moving. Loved the characters and the dragon.

Winter’s Gift is a short story set in the Rivers of London world, but this one takes place in the US and features a minor character from one of the earlier books.

Illuminations is a lovely middle grade novel about magical art. I really liked the characters and the story was a lot of fun.

The Mystery Writer is an interesting book about publishing and the power of words. The characters and story was a bit much at times but still an enjoyable read.

A Quantum Love Story is such a lovely little love story wrapped up in a science fiction time travel novel. I really enjoyed this one.

I also managed to keep up pretty well with my challenges this month, finding books for all of them. I will probably do an update on my challenges at the end of this month. I am looking forward to my reading in March, I have lots of good books lined up.

I hope that you all had a marvelous reading month, and that your future reading is even more fabulous. Until next time….

Happy Reading!
