Monthly Wrap-Up: November 2024

And that’s a wrap on November! It was a fun month, until we had that bomb cyclone which had our power out for two days. We were one of the lucky ones though, so I can’t complain too much. My reading this month was pretty good only two disappointments. I read all but one on my planned November TBR, but that was because I decided to wait for the audiobook for one of them. I read a total of 16 books which is pretty average for me.

Favorite ARCs

*How to Steal a Galaxy (December 3, 2024) was just as much fun as the first book, *Full Speed to a Crash Landing, in this new novella trilogy. I am really looking forward to reading the third book, hopefully soon.

*Chasing Eternity (December 3, 2024) was the final book in the Stolen Beauty series. It was a good ending, although it was left open enough for either a spin off or at least a novella.

*Rebel Blade (December 3, 2024) was also the final book in The Burnished City trilogy. I really enjoyed this series and hope more people discover it. It has great characters and a really interesting magical system and world.

Reading Challenge Books

It’s Only a Game was pretty good. Still needed a little something to put it into the thriller category. I never felt like any of the characters were truly in trouble.

In Real Life is a graphic novel that I have had sitting on my shelf forever. Graphic novels don’t work for me, I think it is because I like to picture the characters in the story in my own mind. But it was nice to finally check this one off my TBR list. Plus it was a good story that I enjoyed.

*84 Charing Cross Road was very short, yet very sweet. I loved the letters and it was kind of funny thinking about how inexpensive books were back then.

Favorite Reads

*The Lightning Bottles was a really good musical mystery thriller. It was an interesting look at how music influences people’s lives and how fame can be so destructive to the creators. It is also a love story.

*An Instruction In Shadow is the second book in another underrated series. It is an urban fantasy with wonderful characters and a very interesting and different magical system.

*A Rival Most Vial is a cozy fantasy that I really really enjoyed which was kind of a surprise. Loved the found family and the world. The story and romance were really quite charming and sweet. Looking forward to reading the second one soon.

Favorite Audiobooks

*The Isles of the Gods is probably my second favorite audiobook this year. I loved the full cast of readers, who all did an excellent job of portraying their characters. I am hoping to listen to the second book soon.

*Full Speed to a Crash Landing was also an excellent audiobook. The reader for the main character was excellent. She a did a great job with the snark and banter between the characters. Loved it.

*A Wizard’s Guide to Defensive Baking was also a well done audiobook. I liked the narrator although she sounded a bit older than the 14 year old character. But it was still fun to listen to.

Until next time…

Happy Reading!
