Book Tag: Reading Firsts 2025

I had forgotten about this tag until I saw it popping up on other blogs. So I decided I needed to do a new addition for the year. This will be the third year I have done this one, and this year it was kind of hard. I would have named the same book for many of the prompts, so I had to mix it up a bit and choose the second or even third book that qualified. So not totally the first books, but still some really good ones here. As always, if you click on the titles of the books they will take you to my reviews.

This tag was originally created by girlxoxo.

First Book Read in 2025

A Long Time Gone was the first book that I started and finished in the new year. It was a great book to start off the year with.

First Book Reviewed in 2025

One Perfect Couple was the first audiobook that I listened to and reviewed in January. It was a well done twisty thriller that I really enjoyed.

First Debut Book Read in 2025

As far as I can tell, A Language of Dragons, was the first debut book that I read this year. I’m not very good at keeping track of debuts, although I think I am getting better. This was a good book, but not one of my favorites this year.

First New to Me Author of 2025

The Ornithologist’s Field Guide to Love was the first book I read by this author. I keep meaning to check out some more of her books, but haven’t had the time with all of the new releases I am trying to keep up with this year.

First Book That Slayed Me in 2025

Not sure how to interpret ‘slayed me’ but I am choosing a book that kept me laughing. I just adore these books and Finlay Donovan Digs Her Own Grave was one of the best. I just love the things that this group of characters get up to.

First Book of 2025 I Wish I Could Get Back The Time I Spent Reading It?

So this was a hard one, as I haven’t had any books yet that I’ve really disliked. But I finally chose Holy Terrors, not because I didn’t like it, but because I should have reread the other books and the short stories from the series before tackling this one. I am hoping that when I reread it in a few weeks that I will love it just as much as the other two books.

First 5 Star Read of 2025

I think many of the books named above were five star reads, so for the sake of not repeating myself, I chose Rogue Community College for this prompt. I also chose it because I don’t think it is getting the attention it deserves. If you don’t have this on your TBR please add it and then read it as soon as possible. It was a lot of fun and I just adored all of the characters. I am really hoping for a sequel sometime soon.

I hope you enjoyed this trip down memory lane with me. I’m not going to tag anyone, but if you haven’t done this one yet this year, what are you waiting for? Consider yourself tagged by me if you need that incentive. Until next time….

Happy Reading!
