Birthstone:

Pearls are so lovely. I just love the look of them. But alas, I didn’t feel like finding more books with white covers as I just did that for April’s diamonds. So I decided to go in a different direction. I got the idea when I spied a book featuring pearls on the cover! I thought that would be a perfect way to showcase this month’s birthstone. I have read all but one of these and can recommend all of them.

*Little Thieves not only has pearls on the cover, but pearls play an important role in this fantasy book. I really enjoyed this book and the others in the series.
The Summer I Ate the Rich is the only book on this list I haven’t read, yet. I do have it on hold at the library as I couldn’t resist that cover or title! I always need a little horror in the summer too.
*Dragon’s Promise is the sequel to Six Crimson Cranes and I remember really liking it. This cover features a black pearl, but it still counts. That pearl was also a central part of the story.

Guillotine is also a horror story with rich people getting their just deserts. This was a short but very bloody book.
Girl With a Pearl Earring was of course the first book that I thought of when I came up with this idea for featuring pearls. I read this one a long time ago, but just loved it!
*Bless Your Heart is what I would call a cozy horror. Yes there were some bloody bits and some scary bits, but it was really about a multi-generational family of women, just trying to keep a lid on things.

Until next time…
Girl With a Pearl Earring has been on my tbr forever. I like the idea of taking a famous painting and writing a story about it.
