Spell the Month in Books is a pretty straightforward meme. Find book titles that start with each letter in the month’s name, make a list, share your list, and that’s it! There are optional challenge themes for the months. I found this tag over on Reviews from the Stack.
This month’s theme: School Stories
This was a hard one, mostly because of all of those Es! I really had to work to find three titles that started with that letter. September in the US means kids are back in school, so what better time to showcase some great middle grade reads. All of these books are set in schools. I was an elementary school librarian for many years before I retired and I read a lot of middle grade books in that time. Most of these are books I have read, although a couple are newer books by favorite authors. Titles with asterisks (*) are linked to my reviews. Otherwise they link to their Goodreads pages.

Each Kindness is a picture book, but I decided to include it because it was book I read every year to my middle grade students. It is about kindness and doing the right thing. I also highly recommend Maybe He Just Likes You and Save Me a Seat. They both tackle tough issues that kids need to think about and discuss.
Hope you enjoyed this addition of Spell the Month in Books. Even though it was hard finding all of those ‘E’ titles, it was fun looking back at books I enjoyed.
