Two reviews for you today, one new book and one book that was published a few years ago. Both were good solid reads, although both were very slow moving at least for me. A Step Past Darkness is a mystery thriller that has a supernatural twist. Endless Water, Starless Sky is the ending of a duology based on the Romeo and Juliet tale.
I listened to three audiobooks this month and I wanted to share them with you. So here are three shortish reviews for three very different books. I’ll Keep you Safe is a mystery thriller by the wonderful Peter May. The Spellman Files is a funny look at a very dysfunctional family. And finally, Iron Flame the second book in the Empyrean series.

Shadow Baron is the sequel to an underloved series that has great world building and characters that you can root for. I have been catching up on some of the books that I wanted to read in 2023 but didn’t get around to for various reasons. Last week I managed to get two of them done, The Seven Year Slip by Ashley poston and The Witchwood Knot by Olivia Atwater. These are two very different stories, but both have fantasy elements. I liked both of them, but was a bit surprised that I didn’t fall in love with either of them.
