Top 5 Wednesday – Freebie

This week was a free choice topic on Top 5 Wednesday.  Yesterday I saw a few posts on blogs I follow about authors I would like to meet, which started me thinking about all of the authors I have met, or at least have seen talking, and who I would still like to see and meet.  A couple of the authors I’m listing I have seen talk, but did not have an opportunity to meet and talk to them.  Maybe one day….

Maggie Stiefvater

Maggie Stiefvater

I saw Maggie on a panel at a conference, a few years ago, but she either wasn’t signing or I missed the signing for some reason.  Hopefully some day I will get the chance to meet her.  I have loved almost every book she has written and I love her blog.  She has such a great sense of humor and is a really interesting person.  She is definitely an author I would love to sit down and talk to.

Cinda Williams Chima

Cinda Williams Chima

Another author whose books I just adore and I have read the Seven Realms series many times.  I love the worlds that she creates and her characters just seem so real to me.  I am somewhat in love with Cuffs Alister and would love to talk to her about his character and how she developed him and the Seven Realms world.

Scott Westerfeld

westerfeld_afterworlds2tinyI was in the same room with Scott once, again at a conference at an author meet and greet event, but he never made it to my table.  I was so sad.  He is another author I admire for his world building.  He develops such interesting worlds and characters that I always find his books compelling and hard to put down.  I especially liked his steampunk series Leviathan.  It was such and amazing world!  If you haven’t read it certainly you need to check it out.  I also just saw on his blog that he has four new books coming out set in the Uglies world.  Check out the video.  The first one is coming out in September and I have already added it to my Goodreads TBR.  I didn’t even read the blurb, I just know I want to read it.

Neil Gaiman

Neil GaimanNeil is another author that I have loved everything he has written.  From his picture books all the way up to his adult books.  I haven’t read his Graphic Novels though.  Graphic Novels are just not something I read well or enjoy much.  I’m always afraid that if I read his Sandman series that I won’t like it as much as his other work, simply because of the format.  Maybe one day.  I would especially like to talk to him about his relationship with Terry Pratchett.  I bet they had a great time writing Good Omens together, they both have the same sense of humor.  I understand that Good Omens is going to be a mini-series soon.  I can’t decide if I am good with that or not.  They have done a good job with American Gods, though, so I am hopeful.

Victoria Schwab

Victoria SchwabI had a hard time deciding on my last author to list, there are just so many that I would love to meet, but finally decided that Victoria’s books are just so dark and different that I just want to see if she is really that dark in real life.  I have not read many of them yet, but I hope to get to more of them soon.  I have only read three so far, but just devoured them and think about rereading them all the time.  She is another writer that I admire mostly for her world building, but also for her flawed characters that at least so far seem to have a dark side to them.

So those are five authors that I would like to meet someday.  I think it would be awesome to actually sit down and have a conversation with them over a meal or a cup of tea.  That would be the dream.  Anyways, check out the Goodreads Top 5 Wednesday group to see what other people have chosen for their freebie this week.  I have seen a couple that are very interesting.  Let me know what authors you would like to meet!
