GoodReads Monday

This weekly meme was started by @Lauren’s Page Turners . To participate, choose a random book from your TBR and show it off. Which sounds easy enough until you have to decide how to choose that book! I think I will use a different way each week, like picking a color or number of pages. I will let you know each week how I chose the book and then some thing interesting about it, like how it ended up on the list or why I want to read. Got it? Okay let’s get started.

Last week I chose a book with the longest title, so this week I thought it would be fun to find the book with the shortest title. Many of my books are one words, so I had to again count the number of letters, and I still came up with a tie. So this time I decided to give the letters a number based on their place in the alphabet and add the numbers up. This is the book that had the longest numerical value:

Meet SLAY – SLAY do two things and they do them well: they play killer music and they slay killer demons.

When Milly, the lonely daughter of a world-famous opera singer, arrives home to discover that her mum has been taken over by something very evil, she finds herself in mortal danger. But the last people she expects to rescue her are the hottest boy band on the planet…

Enter SLAY: playing kickass gigs in the spotlight, and saving the world from demons in the shadows… Suddenly, Milly’s on the road with JD, Tom, Niv, Zek and Connor, racing against the clock to stop the demons who killed her mum… One thing’s for sure, it’s going to be a hell of a show!

This sounds like such a good laugh that I immediately started a search for a copy. It is a UK title, so my local library didn’t have it, nor my local indie shops. So, amazon it is. This and the sequel will arrive in about three weeks.

I have really been enjoying doing these every Monday. It has made me look at my Want to Read shelf a little bit more and it gets me excited about the books I am finding there. So far since I started doing this post I have either read the book I picked or have plans to read it soon (in other words it is on hold at the library or I am waiting for it to arrive from England). If I keep this up I should finish my TBR in a few months😹 . But seriously I do think this is helping me not to ignore my TBR and find some good stuff on it.

Have any of you read this book? What is the shortest title on your TBR?
