Wow, April was quite the month. The weather went from one extreme to another, almost winter like at the beginning to Summer in the middle and now we seem to be back to normal. It has been hard to make plans with such extremes. But somehow I will muddle through.
I did manage to read quite a bit, not sure how. I really didn’t think I had read all that much until I added it all up and realized I had read 18 books! Of course when I look back I realized that I sped through all of those Slough House books, which is probably what tipped the scales.
Without further comment here are all of the books I read in April in the order I finished them.

The Queen’s Secret was good, but it didn’t quite do it for me as much as the first one did. And the ending was just kind of weird.
Treasures, Demons and Other Black Magic was a good ending to that section of the series. Still want to make some of those cupcakes and I still love the delicious descriptions of magic.
The Last Fallen Star was awesome. Loved the story and the mythology behind it. The characters were fun too.
Finna was different, but pretty fun. Loved all of the different alternate universes they went through.
Thrive was an awesome ending for this trilogy. I was kept on the edge of my seat most of the time worrying about how things were going to turn out.
I really enjoyed Real Tigers. Lots of dry humor and the conspiracy within a conspiracy just kept you guessing until the end.
Spook Street was one of one of my favorites of the series. It really took all of the characters and made them a bit more real. The story itself was amazingly well done with a terrorist group from somewhere you wouldn’t expect.
Ophie’s Ghosts was a really good middle grade story set in the 1920’s. Loved the writing and the characters.
Tyran’ts Throne was also a solid ending for the series, although it did not quite go the way I expected it to, it still was an exceptional ending.
London Rules was maybe one of the funniest of the series. Lots of interesting ideas about spies and how they have all of these rules in place to protect themselves and each other.
The Only Good Indians wasn’t what I was expecting and while I liked it I’m not sure it really was the book for me.
I loved Spellbreaker! I loved the characters, the magical system and the story! What a great book and I will be adding other books by this author to my TBR!
Version Zero was a really good book all about privacy and how broken the internet is. Loved the trio of heroes who try to change the world.
Carry On was just as good as I remembered it, Both Simon and Baz are such so adorable, but you got to love them.
Joe Country was another good Slough House novel. This one was pretty intense with the crew traveling to Wales to save one of their own and the son of one that they lost. The ending of this one was a bit sad. Just one more to go which I hope to get my hands on soon.
Spellmaker was just as good as the first. Loved the romance and the pursuit of the evil spellmaker that had wrecked havoc in the first book.
Wayward Son was so fun and I just sped through this one. Loved the road trip and the comments about the US. And how can you not love that Vegas is run by Vampires! I am really looking forward to the last book this summer.
A Wolf Called Wander was a fun middle grade book about a wolf in the Pacific Northwest. It was all told from the wolf’s point of view and I learned a lot about wolves and how and why they migrate. Highly recommend this one to animal lovers.
Well that was quite the list and while I might not have loved them all, I did enjoy them and I don’t think I could say anything really bad about any of them.
Well this month has pushed me up to being almost half way through my Goodreads Reading Challenge. I am 10 books a head of schedule so I don’t think I will have any trouble with making my goal this year.
I hope you had a good reading month as well. Not sure next month will be as good with the school year coming to a close, May is usually a pretty busy month. But I am hopeful that I will at least make my average.
What was your favorite read in April? Leave me a comment and let me know.
A lot of interesting books! Just added Ophie’s ghost to my TBR!
