I had a super busy weekend so my posts might be a bit erratic this week. My son was visiting from California and we spent a lot of time going for hikes and generally sitting around and talking about life. It was great, but it kind of took time away from what I usually do on the weekends. I did manage to get some great reading done though and can’t wait to tell you all about it!
What am I currently reading?
I am absolutely loving Gilded! It is a great retelling of the Rumpelstiltskin fairy tale with some slavic myths woven in. It is kind of creepy at times to. I hope to finish it this weekend and get a review up next week.
The Return is so so creepy. It is keeping me up at nights thinking about what is really going on in that hotel and with the narrator’s friend who disappears and returns two years later totally changed.
Finally my hold for Grave Peril came and I am just loving it! It is a ghost story, with evil ghosts running around Chicago killing people, and I am finding it hard to put down.
What have I recently finished reading?
Roxy was such a good story about addiction and how easy it is for people to get trapped and let it get out of control. I loved the personification of the drugs too.
Dark Waters wasn’t quite as good as the first two in this series, but still a scary read for the middle grades. It has a cliffhanger at the end, so hopefully we won’t have to wait to long for the next one.
The Witch Elm was really good and I really liked the story. Unfortunately the audiobook didn’t quite work for me.
What will I read next?
You’ll Be the Death of Me is the next ARC I need to read. So far I have loved this author’s books so I am sure this one won’t disappoint.
The Eighth Detective is the next book I will read and I am looking forward to it. It sounds really interesting and twisty.
So I actually already started the audiobook for The Electric Kingdom, but put it aside when Grave Peril came along. I wasn’t exactly enjoying the audiobook so I haven’t yet decided if I will continue with that or move to the print version. I do plan on finishing it though as I was liking the story.
Well that is all for this week. I hope you are all having a fantastic reading week!
