3 Bookish Things Book Tag

I recently saw this tag on AceReader and thought it would be fun to do. I did this one once before, way back in the summer of 2018, and I thought it would be interesting to see how my answers changed. I’m sorry that I don’t know who originally started this tag, but whoever you are, thank you for coming up with a such a good one.

If you click on the covers you can see either my reviews for the books or their GoodReads page.

3 Read Once and Loved Authors.

Last time I mentioned 3 female authors, so I thought this time around I would do men. These three books are the latest by these authors but except for Peter May, I have read all of their other books. I really enjoyed the first books I read by both Riley Sager and Taylor Adams, and sought out their other books to read as soon as I could. I hope to read more of Peter May’s books over the summer.

3 Titles I’ve Watched but Not Read.

I am sure there are many others, but these were the three that popped into my head. I thought of them probably because I made the conscience decision to watch them without reading them. I fully intend to someday read these, maybe, but I really enjoyed the shows.

3 Series I have Binged.

I’m almost embarrassed to admit that I binge read The Librarian’s Vampire Assistant series. But I did, and I’m not sorry. Except for the ridiculous ending in book 5, I rather enjoyed it. The One of Us is Lying series is a recent binge reread. I am half way through the third book and really enjoying it. The Shades of Magic series is an old binge series, but I am binging it again this summer. I have been seeing this one on a lot of blogs lately, and I am assuming it is because of the new book set in this world coming out in the fall. In case you didn’t know, V. E. Schwab is doing a read along with all of the books this summer on her youtube channel. I am planning on joining in when I start the series again in a few weeks.

3 Characters I love

This was a tough one. So many good characters have come to my attention recently that it was hard to pick. Plus I still just love the three I talked about last time. But I finally settled on these recent characters. I loved Stephan in Paladin’s Grace, how can you not love a guy who knits to stay calm? I also enjoyed Cade Ombre in The Malevolent Seven. He was such a scoundrel, but loveable all the same. I also really liked Vanya and Emeric is Little Thieves. I loved their banter and their characters were perfect for each other. I know that makes four, but two for one if you ask me.

3 Current Favorite Covers

I seem to be on a bit of a dragon binge lately, so I decided to go with my three favorites with dragons on the cover. I just love the cover of both Dragonfall and Song Of Silver, Flame Like Night. Such great covers, and the stories were pretty good too. I haven’t yet read Miss Percy’s Pocket Guide yet, but I hope to get to it this summer. That baby dragon is just to adorable for words.

3 Weirdest things I’ve used for bookmarks

Well part of my answer hasn’t changed for this one, I still am pretty good about using a normal bookmark all of the time. I switch between my favorite one, which never leaves the house because I am afraid of losing it, and a couple of simple paper bookmarks when I need to take my book with me. But I still find some interesting things in the books returned to the library.

  • An unused band aid.
  • Pokemon cards, I’ve been getting these a lot lately.
  • Money, which to be honest I don’t think it was being used as a bookmark. It was the students lunch money which had inadvertently fallen into the book in his backpack.

3 Favorite Authors

Let’s be honest, this could be a much longer list than just three. But I decided to choose these three just based on the fact that I love all of their books, not just their popular series.

3 Unpopular Bookish Opinions

Another tough one for me and please don’t hate me for some of them.

  • I don’t pick up a book just because it is being praised for having diverse characters, I need the story to be good and the characters to be realistic. But I do like that there is more diversity than there used to be.
  • I don’t particularly care for book swag. I like looking at it sometimes and thinking it is cute, but I don’t feel the need to own it.
  • Book cover changes drive me crazy. Some of that has to do with being a librarian and cataloging books, but I especially hate it when a cover I love is changed to one I don’t like.

3 Book Goals For the Year

I have been working on these three goals this year and so far I have been doing pretty well on two of them.

  • Read more nonfiction. I set out to read at least three non fiction books this year and so far I have 4, so I have already met this goal! But I have since upped it to 10 books, so hopefully I will get that done in the next six months.
  • Another goal, was to read books I already own, and I have been failing this one miserably. I have been good about reading new books that I have bought recently, but old ones not so much.
  • Keeping up on using Storygraph. I have been using it for six months because I wanted to give it a good try, but I’m still not sure if it is right for me. I still find Goodreads easier to use.

That’s it for this round of 3 Bookish Things. It was fun to see how my answered changed from 5 years ago. As I tagged myself for this one, consider yourself tagged if you want to do it. Also, if anyone knows who started this one let me know. I like to give credit when I can.
