Stacking The Shelves is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks! And audiobooks. Don’t forget audiobooks!
In other words, if you can read it or if it can be read to you – no matter how you got it – it belongs in Stacking the Shelves.
The Stacking the Shelves meme was originally hosted at Team Tynga’s Reviews. It is currently hosted by Reading Reality.
The main holiday week is over and I survived. Things should calm down a bit now, and even though my son is visiting for a couple more days, I hope to find time for reading. I am way behind on my audiobook, but that is ok as I just decided what I am going to listen to next.
The christmas elves were very good to me and brought me two lovely books that I am excited to read. I also picked up two library books and one ARC this week. Looking forward to reading all of them.
Library books I have added to my bedside stack

This is the second book in a cozy mystery series that I decided to pick up. I read the first book, A Spoonful of Murder a couple of years ago, but never picked up the next one. I was recently asked to review the ARC for the fourth book, so decided I should see what I missed in the middle two books.
I really like the covers for this series and the titles are clever. I remember having some issues with the first book, but it was a debut so I am willing to give this second book a try. And depending on how that goes the third one as well.

One Perfect Couple is the audiobook I picked up this week. I am hoping to start it either today or tomorrow. It is one of my 2024 books that I just didn’t get to.
I have read a few other books by this author and so far they have all been pretty good. This one has been likened to Agatha Christie’s And Then There Were None, which is one of the few Christies I have read. This sounds like a really good thriller with 5 couples trapped on an island when the murders start. I’m not sure if I have listened to the narrator before, but hopefully she will be good.
ARCs I’ve added to my Netgalley account

I am not a fan of this cover, but it does match the cover for the first book, so I am willing to live with it. I loved the first book in the series, Dragon Rider, so I am excited that I received the ARC for the second book. I can’t tell if this is the last book, but I really don’t think it is. I certainly hope it isn’t . This comes out in April, but hopefully I will get to it sooner. I might even try to reread the first book just so it is fresh in my mind before delving into this one.
I loved this author’s debut YA series, Summoner, and read the first book in his second series, Contender, but never got around to reading the other two. I just might have to find the time to remedy that.
Books I bought or were gifted

I feel like I’m cheating here a little bit. I bought The Most Wonderful Crime of the Year last Saturday and then immediately started reading it. So it is finished and reviewed, but I love it so much that I just had to mention it again! If you love cozy mystery romances this is a book you have to read.
A Brief Atlas of the Lighthouses at the End of the World is a nonfiction book I received for Christmas. It will be my first non fiction of 2025 and I am looking forward to it. I love the illustrations and just flipping through it I know it will be a good one.
Heir was the second gift book I received and while I am looking forward to reading it, I am thinking I might just put it off till the next one comes out. But, ACK, there doesn’t seem to be a date for that yet. So I just might have to read it sooner instead of waiting. Hopefully it doesn’t end in a cliffhanger.

That is it for this week’s edition of Stacking the Shelves. I certainly hope that you received lots of books this week for whichever holiday you celebrated. I also hope that you all enjoyed your holidays and spending time with family and friends. Until next time…
Heir is one I need to read!
