My August 2026 TBR

Happy Friday! It is the end of another month and time to tell you what books I plan on reading in August. I can’t believe the summer is half over. Although here in the PNW our summer tends to last almost to the end of September. Which is only fair, considering it doesn’t start till after the Fourth of July!

Today is moving day! As you read this my computer has been packed up and things are being either loaded or unloaded on the truck. Not everything is going yet, just the furniture and of course the books, so many books. The rest my husband and I will move over the next week. As much as I hated packing, I think unpacking might be harder, as I know we don’t have the room for everything we want to keep. Hard decisions are ahead for us.

On the Bright side, I am really looking forward to my reading in August. I started off with seven ARCs that needed to be read this month, but managed to finish two this past week and I’ve started a third. So I only have four left to go. These are all books I am looking forward to reading. Then I chose four more for my various challenges.

ARCs I need to read

We Already Dug the Grave (9/8) is described as a southern gothic thrill with some paranormal mixed in. It is about two sisters who are willing to protect each other no matter the cost.

The Henchperson’s Guide to Unionizing (9/22) is a book I added to my list simply because I wanted something humorous to read while I am stressed out from the move. The title pretty much explains what the story is about.

Well Versed (9/22) is the fifth book in the Well Met series. This is a romance that takes place at a renaissance fair. It has been awhile since the other books were published, but that is ok as they can all be read as standalones.

The Velvet Knife (9/29) is the sixth book in the Truly Devious series. So looking forward to this one as the last book ended on a bit of a cliffhanger. I am still rooting for Stevie and David to figure out their relationship.

Other books I plan to read

99 Ways to Die and How to Avoid Them is my nonfiction choice for this month. The title sounds a bit morbid but also amusing. I am hoping it won’t be to graphic.

Hot Girl Murder Club (Buzzword Reading Challenge) is by an author who I have read before and liked. This is of course a mystery thriller that takes place in Hollywood.

The Spellshop (52 Book Club Challenge) is a cozy fantasy that I have had my eye on for awhile. I am of course here for the sentient spider plant.

The Exquisite Torment of Loving Your Enemy is probably my most anticipated read of the summer if not the year. I loved The Irresistible Urge to Fall for Your Enemy and I have heard good things about this sequel, so super excited to read it.

That is it for this month’s TBR list. I will be offline for a day or two except for email. Hopefully I will be able to get my computer set up fairly quickly and with no issues. As always…

Happy Reading!
