First Lines Friday is a weekly feature (or when I feel like it) hosted by Wandering Words. What if instead of judging a book by its cover we judge it by its opening lines?
Can you figure out this week’s book just from the first line?

I have been catching up on some of the books that I wanted to read in 2023 but didn’t get around to for various reasons. Last week I managed to get two of them done, The Seven Year Slip by Ashley poston and The Witchwood Knot by Olivia Atwater. These are two very different stories, but both have fantasy elements. I liked both of them, but was a bit surprised that I didn’t fall in love with either of them.
A weekly meme in which I answer the three questions:
What am I currently reading?
What have I recently finished reading?
What will I read next?
A review for the new novella by Premee Mohamed, The Butcher of the Forest. This is a dark fairy tale with an older protagonist who has to go into a dangerous forest to rescue the children of a Tyrant.
A weekly post in which I pick a book off of my GoodReads want to read list and talk about it. This week’s list is an older title that I have just recently learned about. It is set close to home in Washington state and sounds like a really good read.
A weekly meme where I talk about what books I have added to my reading list this week. This will mostly be my library books, but I will talk about others as well.
