Book Tag: Reading Firsts 2024

Even though I have been reading a lot lately, I’m not much in the mood for review writing this week. So I decided to do a book tag instead. I have been seeing this tag around a lot the last couple of weeks, so thought I would join in the fun. I did this one last year if you want to check that one out as well. (Reading Firsts 2023)

This tag was originally created by girlxoxo.

First Book Read in 2024

Witchwood Knot by Olivia Atwater

At first I couldn’t remember what this book was about until I read the blurb. It was ok, but not a great book to start the year off with.

First Book Reviewed in 2024

Everyone on This Train is a Suspect by Benjamin Stevenson

I actually read this in December but the review wasn’t posted until January. The first book that I read and wrote a review for in 2024 would be The Butcher of the Forest by Premee Mohamed, which was also good, but not as good as this one.

First Debut Book Read in 2024

The One That Got Away With Murder by Trish Lundy

This was a stunning debut and one that I totally picked up on a whim. But I am so glad I picked it up. The audiobook was very well done too and one I recommend you give a try.

First New to Me Author of 2024

The Tainted Cup by Robert Jackson Bennett

I guess Robert Jackson Bennett has been around for awhile, but I had never heard of him till I picked up this book. I loved this one and I really need to start reading his backlist.

First Book That Slayed Me in 2024

Listen for the Lie by Amy Tintera

This book was fantastic and it is still my favorite read of the year so far. The audiobook was amazing as well. If you don’t have this one on your TBR than you are missing out.

First Book of 2024 I Wish I Could Get Back The Time I Spent Reading It?

I Only Read Murder by Ian and Will Ferguson

This was a tough one as I haven’t really read anything yet this year that I felt fit this category. This was the closest I could get to and only because I almost DNF’d it. I did end up finishing it, and even liking it a bit by the end. But if I had to do it all over again, I probably wouldn’t pick it up in the first place.

First 5 Star Read of 2024

I’ll Keep You Safe by Peter May

This was a fabulous audiobook by one of my favorite authors. Peter May was actually my first new to me author in 2023! So I have been steadily working my way through his backlist and I have yet to be disappointed.

I hope you enjoyed this trip down memory lane with me. I’m not going to tag anyone, but if you haven’t done this one yet this year, what are you waiting for? Consider yourself tagged by me if you need that incentive. Until next time….

Happy Reading!

  1. This is such a fun tag and I really liked looking back at the start of the year. I’m currently working my through Robert Jackson Bennett’s backlist and I’ve enjoyed all of them so far but Tainted Cup is still the best IMO. I’m hoping that Everyone on this train is a suspect arrives at the library soon.

      1. The have most of his recent stuff, but some of his older stuff is only available as an ebook. Which is fine, I just have to fit them in between the ARCs.😂
