Hello and welcome to my challenge update post where I talk about the reading challenges I am doing this year and how things are going. So far I have been doing splendidly with them, although there have been a few prompts here and there that have been giving me some issues. You can find my first quarter challenge update here.
If the book title has an asterisk (*) before it, that means it is linked to my review. If not, then it is linked to its Goodreads page.
Buzzword Cover Challenge

April prompt: Cover Featuring an Animal
*How to Solve Your Own Murder was a fun cozy mystery that I enjoyed reading. For some reason this prompt was hard for me as I couldn’t find a book I wanted to read that had an animal featured on the cover. I would have liked something with a more prominent animal, but this one will have to do.
May Prompt: Cover Featuring Eyes
🎧*Yellowface was the first and only book I thought of when I read this prompt. For some reason I had no real interest in reading this book when it came out, but I ended up really liking it. The audiobook was great.
June prompt: Cover Featuring Celestial Object
🎧* Tress of the Emerald Sea was a book I have been wanting to read for a long time and I am so glad that I finally got around to it. I just loved it.
NonFiction reading Challenge

There are no monthly prompts for this challenge, but I am trying to read at least one nonfiction book every month. I am also trying to branch out a bit into other areas of nonfiction. You can learn about the challenge here.
Go To Hell was a really interesting book about places that have some sort of connection to hell. Or in some instances are so horrible that you might think you were in hell.
Field Notes from a Fungi Forager is pretty specific to fungi from the pacific northwest, but it was fun to read and I loved the illustrations. I don’t usually like to eat mushrooms but some of her recipes almost made me want to try them.
A Field Guide to the Apocalypse was a very informative guide that had a lot of how to survive almost any kind of catastrophe, even if the Zombies attack!
52 Book Club’s Challenge

As you can see I am almost done with this one. I have only seven prompts left. I plan to do three in July and three in August and the last one I can’t do until September (read a book in a ‘ber’ month). I haven’t been focusing on the Bonus prompts too much, but I’m not doing too badly on those either. Once I’m done I will probably tweak my final answers for a week or two. Many of the prompts have more than one book at this point, and I might move a few around to fit the prompts better. I will at some point before the end of the year do a post that shows all of the books I read for this challenge.
Picture of the Month Challenge

This has nothing to do with books, but I enjoy taking pictures and this is a fun way to share them. The picture challenge is pretty simple: there is a bingo board with prompts, that I then take a picture for. I don’t have a bingo yet, as I seem to be all over the board with finding pictures for the prompts. Some of the prompts are kind of hard to think of a picture for, but I am sure I will come up with something. You can go to the posts about the pictures by clicking on the picture captions. You can learn about the challenge here.

Hopefully my luck will hold and I will be able to complete all of my challenges. I hope that you are doing well with your challenges and are having a great start to your summer, or winter for those of you in the southern hemisphere. As always…
I love the pictures you’ve come up with so far! And yes, you do (and can) get a little creative!
