WWW Wednesday

Happy, happy Wednesday everyone! We are currently experiencing what Pacific Northwesters consider a heat wave. Which means temperatures in the 90s for two whole days! Having grown up in New England and having experience with heat waves lasting over a week with very high humidity the panic that people feel here always makes me chuckle a bit. But I also find that I am less use to the heat and humidity and I am just as uncomfortable as everyone else. It’s all a matter of perspective.

Even with spending most of my week preparing for the big move, I still managed to read a good number of books. One was a very short audiobook, which helped.

What am I currently reading?

A Trade of Blood is the third book in the Shadow of the Leviathan series and I am loving it. I am finding it hard to put down at the same time it is really creeping me out. I’m very close to finishing this one and will probably do so today.

The Outcast Mage is good so far although I am not very far into it yet. It is a very complex world, but I am enjoying the characters and the plot so far.

🎧The Dentist is excellent and I am really enjoying it. This is another book that I am pretty close to finishing. I can’t wait to find out who the murderer is, as I haven’t a clue.

What have I recently finished reading?

Daggerbound was great and I really enjoyed it. I loved both Edmond and the Dervish and their story as well as their romance. I hope we don’t have to wait another five years for the final book.

The Fatal Unpleasantness at Netherfield was a solid edition to this series based on the Jane Austin novels. The ending was not what I was expecting, and also a bit of a cliff hanger. So looking forward to the next book.

Bitterfrost was a well done thriller, except it was a bit too easy to solve. I kind of knew what had really happened almost from the start, but I wasn’t sure of the motive, which ended up being very interesting. The characters and the watching how they solved the murders kept me interested in the story until the end.

🎧Believe: The Untold Story Behind Ted Lasso was a very interesting look at how a television show is made. I enjoyed the behind the scenes look at this show. Reading this made me want to watch the show again.

🎧 The Mysterious Dr Ox was a very short audiobook that I listened to for one of my challenges. I needed a book written in the 1800s. I was originally going to read one of Verne’s more well known books, but then I saw this one and thought it would be interesting. I enjoyed it and especially recommend this version as the reader did an excellent job bringing this story to life.

What will I read next?

Our Strange Duet will be the next ARC that I will tackle. I have six ARCs I need to read for September, so I need to get started on them sooner rather than later. This is a retelling of Phantom of the Opera. I just love that cover also.

The Devil and Mrs Gooch is my next library read. This is the last book on my July TBR that I need to read. I think it will be fun one as it is a cozy mystery.

🎧Cursed is my next audiobook. It is the second book in the Alex Verus series. I enjoyed the first book quite a bit, so I am looking forward to listening to this one.
